Protection of the public is the highest priority of the State Bar. The interactive map, below, provides information on work that the State Bar
is doing in each legislative district in California. Select either Senate or Assembly District and scroll over the map to find district-specific
information on the number of attorneys who have been disciplined; reimbursement paid to victims of attorney misconduct, and; legal aid funding distributed
by the Bar to legal aid organizations providing services to low-income, disabled, and elderly Californians.
Attorney discipline data focuses on the most severe types of sanctions: disbarments and suspensions. Funding to reimburse victims of attorney theft is paid by
the State Bar’s Client Security Fund which pays approximately $6 million to victims each year and is funded entirely from fees assessed on licensed attorneys in
California. Over $30 million in legal aid funding is distributed by the Bar each year to over a hundred legal aid organizations across the state.
County-based map will be available by January 2019.
